Expeditions form an essential part of World of Warcraft. More than anything else, they take the boredom out of the game but then, conquests also become inescapable episodes at times in World of Warcraft. The 1st times that you play, they are stimulating and keeps you glued to the game. The next time you do them you may try different selections, but after that it starts to become about efficiency.

At a particular point quests become all about the most effective way of completing them, and there are 2 approaches to acquiring that efficiency. The first is the road most people take – I call it the headless-chicken way. With this method, there is nothing prepared as part of your scheme, you simply walk the trampled path. The real problem with that approach is you often find yourself saying things like “Oh, I actually needed to go THERE”, “Hmmm?this person doesn?t have the Muffin of Doom at all, it must have been that other guy” and unfortunately “Where?s my corpse”?

The second method requires serious thinking where you track your movements and go on fine-tuning your campaign as you move from one point to the other till you finish the trail. I acquired this example long ago in a long ignored game called Pools of Radiance, and it holds true to any game with any sort of play back worth at all. In case you feel that you would follow the same road while returning, make notes on the way. In case you feel that you would take up this exploration once again, make notes of the essential points and take a different path just to add variety. There is nothing wrong with taking various options during your exploration but if you do not keep a register of your actions and also have bad memory, it is likely that you will lose your path and waste time next time around.

How much of that would you take down? Let us take travel down memory lane and re-visit Pools of Radiance, which taught me my 1st object lessons. I brought my heroes from the walls of Phlan and sailed along the river to reach a lake. In the middle of the lake was a huge pyramid spewing all sorts of pollution into Phlan?s lovely clean river and my champions had to investigate. To come to the point, the pyramid held one of the most irritating labyrinths I have ever known. It is not only all twisted and tangled which made it inconceivable to see any landmark, but also had teleporters which haphazardly transported you all the time. I spent lasting hours trying to handle the maze till I started to jot down every exploit that I made. When I played the game again with a new group I did the entire pursuit in ten minutes.

So Map, register, refine and while it may sound a little tedious to start, when you carry it to it?s normal close and you?ve leveled four times faster than anyone else, the dullness doesn?t hurt so much.
